The winner tamil movie is an upcoming Tamil action thriller film directed by R. Parthiepan, written by G. Maheswaran and produced by Studio Green under their Green Productions banner. The film stars Dhanush in the lead role while Malavika Mohanan plays his love interest. Aishwarya Rajesh plays a pivotal supporting role while Samuthirakani appears in a cameo appearance as the film's antagonist, which will mark his acting debut following his extended cameo appearances on Tamil television show Kathal Kaattu. Bobby (Dhanush) is a jobless youth, who spends time in clubs drinking and playing billiard. He meets Priya (Malavika Mohanan), who is the daughter of a billionaire neighbour, in one of the clubs, and falls in love. Priya, however, is already in love with Raghu (Samuthirakani), who takes care of her business. His car was hit by Bobby's friend's car that he borrowed for Puja where he meets him again. He gets to know that Bobby has limited knowledge about cars so he tells him to go out drinking so that he does not know where his car is possessed. Bobby gets drunk and does not know anything. After that, he comes to know that his friend was killed by Raghu. So he plans to kidnap Raghu's brother and tries to get rid of Raghu. The rest of the film deals with how Bobby saves himself and proves his innocence and how the lovers unite. The film will mark Dhanush and Parthiepan's fourth collaboration together after "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa" (2010), "Pudhupettai" (2011) and "Kaththi" (2014). It was reported that Parthiepan would direct Dhanush in another film starring Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu and produced by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies. This film however did not materialise and Parthiepan instead began work on "Winner" with Dhanush after the actor told him about a story he had written. Malavika Mohanan was signed on to play the leading female role, while it was reported that actress Aishwarya Rajesh would be seen in an item number. Nassar was initially cast in the role of Raghu, however during pre-production, Samuthirakani replaced him. Nassar however made a special appearance in the film, portraying himself. The movie's first look poster was released on March 2nd 2016. The movie production started in June 2016.
